BRIEF HISTORY

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and most fundamental branches of engineeringfocused on the design, analysis, and manufacturing of mechanical systems, the Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2010 with an initial intake of 60 students for the undergraduate program (Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering) at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (formerly known Appa Institute of Engineering and Technology), in the academic year 2011–2012, the intake was increased to 120 students, in 2017 the department introduced a postgraduate program (M.Tech in Machine Design) with an intake of 18 students under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, affiliated with Sharnbasva University, Kalaburagi.

In 2018, following the affiliation with Sharnbasva University, the undergraduate intake was increased to 180 students but in 2021, the undergraduate intake was revised and reduced to 120 students. Currently, the department offers undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech), and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs. The present intake is 120 students for the B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering program and 18 students for the M.Tech in Machine Design program. The department has continually evolved in terms of academic excellence, research activities, and infrastructure development. It remains committed to producing competent, innovative, and industry-ready mechanical engineers.
