About Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) - FETW

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. MIC has encouraged creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses. Our university has been selected for establishing Institution Innovation Council (IIC) (2021) at our premises as per the norms and directions of Innovation Cell, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. (IIC official website)

Objectives of IIC

  1. To nurture innovative /Entrepreneurial/Start-up mindset by conducting series of activities.

  2. To identify and Transform ideas into products which meets societal and rural issues.

  3. To promote design thinking skills and to create a start-up Ecosystem.

  4. To conduct collaborative activities in association with relevant agencies.

Functions of IIC at FETW

  1. Foster a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship across the campus through diverse programs and activities.

  2. Organize innovation and startup-related activities as per the calendar and directives of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC).

  3. Identify innovative ideas and projects by students and faculty; recognize outstanding contributions and share success stories.

  4. Host workshops, seminars, and expert talks with entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals to enhance innovation capabilities.

  5. Build a network of mentors from academia, industry, and startups to support student innovators and budding entrepreneurs.

  6. Collaborate with other IICs, academic institutions, and national entrepreneurship organizations for knowledge exchange and joint initiatives.

  7. Showcase Innovations: Develop and maintain an institutional innovation portal to exhibit innovative projects and achievements of the FETW community.

  8. Organize Innovation Competitions: Conduct hackathons, idea contests, mini-challenges, and other events in collaboration with industry to encourage real-world problem-solving.

Innovation & Incubation Facilities at Sharnbasva University:

To encourage entrepreneurship and support student-led innovation, Sharnbasva University houses two major incubation centers:

  1. K-Tech Innovation Hub

    1. A state-supported innovation platform offering mentoring, technical guidance, and startup ecosystem exposure.

  2. MSME Incubation Center

    1. Government-supported incubation space for early-stage startups with funding access, prototyping, and IP facilitation.
