About FETW

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Exclusively for Women) (FETW), formerly known as Godutai Engineering College for Women, was established in 2017. It is the only women’s engineering college in the entire northern backward part of Karnataka state, meeting the rapidly growing need for women professionals in technology. Nurturing young minds in an innovative and progressive learning environment, we are committed to promoting technical education as a catalyst for the country’s and society’s growth and development, a dream of our Chancellor and President, Poojya Dr. Sharnbaswappa Appa. FETW offers undergraduate (B.Tech.) programs in AI & ML, Civil, CSE, ECE, and EEE; postgraduate (M.Tech.) programs in CSE and Digital Communication & Networking; and Ph.D. programs in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, CSE, ECE, and EEE.

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (Exclusively for Women) at Sharnbasva University. Established in 2011 with the visionary guidance of our President, Parama Poojya Dr. Sharanabaswappa Appa, we are proud to be the first and only women’s engineering college in the northern backward region of Karnataka.

At FETW, our mission is to provide world-class engineering education to women, empowering them to live independently with enlightenment and vocational skills. Named in honor of MatoshreeGodutai, we are committed todeliveringexceptionalhighereducationtowomen,fosteringtheirgrowth into proficient engineers and leaders of tomorrow.

Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Activities

Preamble: To enhance the organizational and interpersonal skills of our students, the department actively coordinates a variety of initiatives. Each department has its own associations and clubs, led by dedicated staff and student coordinators. Student organizers take full responsibility for planning and executing these initiatives, fostering leadership and teamwork.

The department conducts numerous technical activities through various clubs, with financial and developmental support provided by the institution.Also, all departments conduct outreach programs for students to fulfill the requirements of AICTE Activity Points.

1.Jnanothsava – Techno-Cultural Fest

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Exclusively for Women) organizes an annual Techno-Cultural Fest, “Jnanothsava”, a vibrant celebration that blends technology, creativity, and cultural expression. As the institution’s flagship event, Jnanothsava serves as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their technical expertise, artistic talents, and leadership skills through a diverse range of competitions and activities.

Key Highlights of Jnanothsava:

2. Sports Day:

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Exclusively for Women) celebrates Sports Day annually, promoting fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among its students. This eagerly awaited event provides a platform for young women to showcase their athletic skills, competitive spirit, and leadership qualities while fostering a sense of camaraderie and empowerment.

Key Highlights of Sports Day:

  1. Track & Field Events: Long-distance races, relays, high jump, long jump, and shot put.
  2. Team Sports: Basketball, volleyball, badminton, and throwball tournaments.
  3. Indoor Games: Chess, table tennis, carrom, and other recreational activities.

The event not only encourages physical well-being but also instills essential values such as discipline, perseverance, and confidence. Winners and outstanding performers are recognized with medals, trophies, and certificates, motivating students to excel both in academics and athletics.

Sports Day is a vibrant celebration that strengthens the spirit of unity and active living among the students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Exclusively for Women).

 

3. Women’s Day Celebration

The Institute grandly celebrates Women’s Week every year on the occasion of Women’s Day by conducting various activities, including both technical, non-technical, and cultural events exclusively for women, to encourage and identify their talents. In addition to this, on Women’s Day, the university identifies the Women Award, bestowed upon outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions, honored by Stree Shakti, Shree Ratna, and Veer Mahile Awards. In addition, in recognition of the contributions made by the women staff members of our institution, a Women’s Excellence Award is presented annually.

 

 

National Cadet Corps (NCC) The NCC unit at the university was established in April 2021 with an initial strength of 18 Senior Wing (SW) cadets and 36 Senior Division (SD) cadets. Currently, the total strength has increased to 160 cadets, comprising all three years of enrollment. The present composition includes 30% SW cadets and 70% SD cadets, achieving 100% capacity. National Service Scheme (NSS) at Sharnbasva University The National Service Scheme (NSS) has been introduced at Sharnbasva University as an integral part of its academic programs. Since its inception, NSS has been a consistent feature in the university’s activities. Students are encouraged to participate in NSS programs as part of their non-CGPA course requirements. The NSS unit comprises dedicated volunteers led by a designated NSS Programme Officer. Each year, NSS camps are organized, enabling the university to serve numerous villages and contribute to community development. In addition to these camps, the NSS conducts regular activities throughout the year, focusing on social awareness and welfare. Highlights of Major Activities:
  1. Organized annual camps to serve rural communities.

Establishment of Research Centre:

Since its inception, FETW has laid the foundation for research excellence. Our focus is to encourage interdisciplinary research and build a strong research culture among faculty and students.

Our faculty members actively pursue and encourage to get the funding for the research projects supported by leading government funding agencies such as AICTE, VGST, KSCST. These initiatives aim to solve real-world problems through innovation and research.

About Library – FETW

The FETW Library spans a total area of 640 square meters and provides a comfortable and resource-rich environment with a seating capacity for 300 students. The library operates from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on regular days, extends its hours during examinations to 10:00 PM, and is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during vacations.

The library houses an extensive collection with 2,073 titles and 44,542 volumes catering to various disciplines of engineering and technology. Over the last five years, the library has consistently enhanced its resources, adding yearly.

To support digital learning, the library provides access to E-journals and E-books through the EBSCO Database. It also features special collections that include textbooks, reference books, and essential academic resources. Additionally, question banks are available for students to aid in exam preparation and academic success.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Exclusively for Women) has established a dedicated Career Guidance and Placement Cell to assist students in various aspects of their career development. The Cell offers job assistance, career counseling, guidance for higher education, support for competitive exams, and skill development programs. It is led by a Placement Coordinator, who serves as the central point of contact for all departments, and is supported by Departmental Placement Coordinators to ensure effective implementation at the department level.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) is established to encourage, inspire, and nurture young students by supporting them in working on new ideas and transforming them into prototypes. It aims to develop and strengthen entrepreneurial qualities in budding professionals interested in starting their own ventures. The EDC motivates, supports, and mentors students in identifying, developing, and commercializing their innovative ideas.

The EDC of FETW provides infrastructure and technical support to students with innovative ideas, helping them transform these ideas into new products and services for the betterment of society.

Objectives:

·         To nurture an innovative, entrepreneurial, and start-up mindset by conducting a series of activities.

·         To identify and transform ideas into products that address societal and rural issues.

About IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is a vital body established as per the guidelines of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to ensure consistent improvement in the academic and administrative performance of the institution. At the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Exclusively for Women), the IQAC functions as a catalyst for fostering a culture of excellence, quality enhancement, and institutional integrity.

IQAC serves as a nodal agency for planning, guiding, and monitoring quality assurance and quality enhancement activities across all departments. It works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders to develop and implement best practices in teaching, research, infrastructure, and governance.
