Sharnbasva University, Kalaburagi, organized an induction programme for newly admitted students, providing them with valuable guidance on the university’s academic system, rules, assessment methods, facilities, and learning opportunities. Dr. Lakshmi Patil Maka, Registrar of Sharnbasva University, highlighted the importance of discipline, regular attendance, continuous learning, and active participation in academic activities.

She explained that university education follows a semester-based system and is significantly different from the examination pattern students may have experienced at the PUC level. She advised students to attend classes regularly, complete assignments on time, participate seriously in practical training, and prepare consistently for semester examinations rather than depending only on final examinations.

Dr. Lakshmi Maka also explained that students’ performance is assessed throughout the semester, with internal assessment reflecting their day-to-day academic engagement, including attendance, assignments, practical work, and overall learning progress, while the remaining marks are assessed through semester-end examinations. She encouraged students to understand that their everyday efforts have a direct impact on their final academic performance and urged them to make full use of the university’s academic facilities, laboratories, faculty guidance, and student support systems.

Her message to the new students was clear: success at university is built through consistency, discipline, regular learning, and active participation from the very first day. The induction programme therefore served as an important first step in helping students understand their responsibilities and begin their university journey with confidence, commitment, and a clear sense of direction.
