Anti-Drug Awareness Program

Inspire Youth Towards a Drug-Free Future

Police Commissioner Calls Upon Students to Become Ambassadors Against Drug Abuse

As part of its commitment to promoting social responsibility and holistic education, Sharnbasva University, Kalaburagi, in association with the Kalaburagi City Police Commissionerate, organized a special awareness programme to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The event brought together students, faculty members, law enforcement officials, and university administrators with a shared mission—to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage collective action towards building a drug-free society.

Inspiring Students to Become Change Makers

The keynote address was delivered by Shri S.D. Sharanappa, IPS, Police Commissioner, Kalaburagi, who urged students to become active partners in the fight against drug abuse.

Addressing a packed auditorium, he emphasized that eliminating the menace of drugs cannot be achieved by law enforcement agencies alone. Instead, it requires the active participation of educational institutions, parents, communities, and, most importantly, young people.

He encouraged students to remain alert, spread awareness among their peers, and promptly report illegal drug-related activities through the appropriate authorities whenever necessary.

Creating Awareness About the Impact of Drug Abuse

During the programme, students were educated about the serious consequences of substance abuse on individuals, families, and society.

The session highlighted how drug addiction can:

  • Affect physical and mental health
  • Disrupt education and career aspirations
  • Damage family relationships
  • Increase crime and social instability
  • Negatively impact economic productivity

The speakers stressed that prevention through awareness, education, and timely intervention is one of the most effective ways to combat drug abuse.

Role of Educational Institutions

Educational institutions play an important role in shaping responsible citizens. Through awareness programmes like this, Sharnbasva University continues to encourage students to make informed decisions, adopt healthy lifestyles, and contribute positively to society.

The university believes that creating awareness among young people is essential for building safer communities and promoting a culture of responsibility and mutual support.

A Collaborative Initiative for Social Good

The programme reflected the strong collaboration between Sharnbasva University and the Kalaburagi City Police Commissionerate in addressing an important social issue.

By bringing together law enforcement professionals, educators, and students, the initiative provided an opportunity for open dialogue on the challenges posed by drug abuse and the collective responsibility required to address them.

Such partnerships strengthen community engagement while empowering students to become responsible citizens and advocates for positive social change.

Building a Drug-Free Society

The event concluded with a call for every student to play a proactive role in creating awareness within their families, campuses, and communities.

Participants pledged to support initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, discourage substance abuse, and foster an environment where young people can thrive through education, discipline, and positive values.

Sharnbasva University’s Commitment to Holistic Education

Beyond academic excellence, Sharnbasva University regularly organizes programmes focused on social awareness, public health, community engagement, and ethical leadership.

By hosting initiatives on important national and social issues, the university nurtures students who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible and committed to nation-building.

The anti-drug awareness programme organized jointly by Sharnbasva University and the Kalaburagi City Police Commissionerate served as a meaningful platform to educate, inspire, and empower students against the dangers of substance abuse.

Through awareness, collaboration, and active community participation, the programme reinforced the message that every individual has a role to play in creating a healthier, safer, and drug-free society.

Together, through awareness and responsible action, we can build a brighter future for our youth and our nation.
